When donating a car it is necessary to transfer ownership. Various states have different regulations on how this is done. This page is a collection of actual references from various state web sites.

1. I’ve misplaced my title. How do I get a replacement title?

You must fill out Form 78-006 ‘Application for Replacement Certificate of Title’ and pay a $4.00 fee. These forms are available on-line, at your local county tax collectors office, at our office 1577 Springridge Rd Raymond MS or by calling 601-923-7200.

2. How long does it take to get a replacement title issued?

 
It normally takes 10-14 days from time we receive application

3. I had a relative pass away and we need to re-title their vehicle. How do we do this?

 You must have completed title application (78-002) and if existing title is John or Jane Doe, the surviving spouses’ signature. If the existing title is in John and Jane Doe or John and/or Jane Doe, we’ll need completed title application, current title signed by surviving spouse and a copy of court endorsed copy of will. If will wasn’t probated we must have letter of administration or testamentary naming the person (owner) to receive vehicle.

  • And if there is no will?

You’ll need a completed title application (available at tax collectors, financial institutions, and MS Designated agents), current title, and form 79-014( Affidavit-Owner Dies without a Will.)

4. How do I become a car dealer?

  You may pick up a dealer packet from any of our MSTC District Offices or by contacting us @ 601-923-7200. All dealer licenses require MSTC Revenue Officer approval.

5. Where do I register my vehicle?

For motor vehicle with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) of 10,000 lbs or less, register their vehicles and receive their tags from the local county tax collector 's office where the vehicle is garaged or domiciled. For motor vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) of over 10,000 lbs and which travels in Mississippi only, register in the local county tax collector 's office and receive their tags from the State Office. For motor vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) of over 10,000 lbs and which travels across state boundaries, register at the State Office in Clinton, Mississippi.
