How to Transfer Vehicle Ownership of Vehicle Titled in Different State or County
If your vehicle's Title is from another State or another Hawaii County, you must record the ownership transfer in the City and County of Honolulu and obtain a City and County of Honolulu Certificate of Title. In order to accomplish this follow these instructions:
- Complete and sign the Application For Registration, form CS-L(MVR)-1. If you want the vehicle to be registered in two names both individuals must sign.
- Submit the last issued Certificate of Registration that was issued by the other State or County;

- If you are a non-resident active duty member of the armed forces, submit a properly completed Non-Resident Certificate, Form CS-L(MVR) 50. Form CS-L(MVR) 50 is available from your armed forces personnel department or your military unit.
