Can I donate my vehicle without a title in California - CA?
IIn California you can donate your car or any vehicle without a certificate of title. However, you have to obtain the appropriate form from the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) in order to do this.
For vehicles 1997 or new you need to obtain a reg 262 form. Click here for information about the Reg 262 form.
For vehicles 1996 or older you need to obtain a reg 227 form.

- You may submit this application either in person or by mail. You can make an appointment at your local DMV or mail the completed forms with payment to the following address. Additional information regarding duplicate titles.
