We always welcome a car or any vehicle donation. However, for years we have advised donors on this website that in order to receive a tax benefit the donor has to itemize deductions. (For more information about tax deductions and car donations please check out our tax deduction overview page) Everyone Wins Many years ago we realized that not only are we accepting donations to benefit the charity, but also to benefit the environment AND the donor. We realized that offering fast and free vehicle pick up is a convenient way for vehicle disposal (recycling, salvage) and a very great and needed service. In order to provide donors, who cannot benefit from a tax deduction, with something other than free pick up the Auto Salvage — Recycling Program was developed. This program is a for profit program. Auto Salvage Recycling Program How our auto salvage program works Generally auto salvage is associated with junk cars and selling cars for auto parts or buying auto parts. We try to salvage a vehicle by getting it picked up and fixed back up and put on the road and not junking it. Most of the vehicles, such as automobiles, cars, trucks, atvs, motorcycles, boats, trailers, jet skis, etc. are not sold as junk or "salvaged" but are sold at auction to dealers that can fix them up and resell them. Thus we pick up vehicles that can be fixed up. The only vehicles we pick up for parts are much newer vehicles. It depends on the value of the vehicle but usually we would only pick up vehicles that are newer than 1996 if they are only going to be sold for parts. This does not mean that we only pick up vehicles that are 1996 or newer. Those are the vehicles we pick up if they can only be used for parts. We put no age restrictions on what we pick up. We pick up vehicles of all ages. Obviously the older the vehicle the better its condition must be in order to pick it up. We have no set rules. We evaluate every vehicle separately based on all of the information that is provided on the online form. Our auto salvage recycling program provides a Fast and Free Pickup process and enables your old automobile, motorcycle or boat to be recycled thus conserving our nations resources and eliminating waste.
