Story of a little teddy bear comforting a child

 

 

4/5/05 Dear Executive Director, Thank you for the encouragement to write a story. The incident was back in August of 1993. I had actually forgotten about the "bear" part until I read your donation web site. Myself, my daughter (a bit under 5) and my son 6 1/2 were returning home on a saturday afternoon from shopping. I was to attend a wedding later in the afternoon. We were stopped at a red light. I took my foot of the brake because the light had changed to green and we were abruptly pushed forward. Both children were in the back seat with seatbelts. The truck that hit us was probably doing at least 35mph. He had not noticed that the light had just been red and the traffic was stopped. We were all quite shaken. Upon the arrival of the fire department, we were all check out for possible injuries. I don 't even remember when my daughter received her bear. I just remember her being quite happy with it. My son was just excited about the fire truck. Whoever put this practice into action was very compassionate and giving. I know our donation will be able to help many young children such as mine were.   A.C.
