Teddy Bear Cops™ Car Donation Charity

Dear Executive Director,

I am writing to you to thank you for your generous donation of several stuffed teddy bears to the Castine Volunteer Fire Department. We have placed the bears on each of our four pieces of fire apparatus so that they can be obtained quickly, should the need arise.

As you may not know, the Castine Volunteer Firemen's Association is an organization comprised of all the members of the Castine Volunteer Fire Department, but it is separate from the Fire Department. The Association's primary purpose is to serve the needs of the Town's volunteer firefighters. This service includes such things as sponsoring social functions, recognizing individual achievements and conducting fund raising for new department equipment.

Castine is a small, rural Maine community, and is very family oriented. We are lucky enough not have a great deal of structure fires here. However, when we do have a fire, it is a major occurrence with deep and broad reaching impact. Having teddy bears available to assist in comforting children in times of distress is a wonderful idea, and we are excited to now have such a capability .The healing and comforting qualities of teddy bears is amazing, for children of all ages.
