Madam,

For many years the Bethlehem Volunteer Ambulance Service has used "Teddy Bears" to bring a smile to a little ones face in the mist of an Emergency Situation. It truly warms the heart of a pre-hospital care provider.

Every year we have difficulty locating an association, organization or business that will donate these little fury friends to our volunteers to distribute to our children that need our emergency services. If you have some "spare bears" for our organization, we would truly appreciate your generosity.

One month ago, I personally was on call when the dispatch toned us out for a 6 year old who fell off the bed and struck her nose and face on the hard bedroom floor. After arriving at the scene and realizing the child was more upset than hurt, I turned to my trauma bag and pulled out a piece of emergency equipment. It was a piece of equipment that with all of the Emergency and Paramedical courses I've taken over the past 14 years, have never trained me to use. It was the only piece of equipment that I needed to bring complete satisfaction to a chaotic situation. Out of my trauma bag emerged a little fuzzy whale that we keep stocked in our pediatric trauma bag. You would of thought it was Christmas morning and I was Santa Claus! One of most joyous sights ever seen is the smile on a little child's face. By the time we left the scene, we had selected a name for her new fuzzy friend and discussed his eating habits.
