Every year policemen, fire fighters, paramedics and other officials are called to scenes of disturbance in neighborhoods all over Fresno, from domestic disputes, fires, to traffic accidents and more.

In 2003 alone there were 20,769 reports of child abuse in Fresno County. Also in 2003 The Fresno Police and Sheriff's Departments reported 7,505 cases of domestic violence. These traumatic situations have an unfortunate effect on the children.

However, it is not all doom and gloom. Every day children all over the U.S. are turning their frowns upside down thanks to the Teddy Bear Cops car donation charity program. Faces that were once sad are now smiling and happy.

The Teddy Bear Cops program provides distraught or saddened children and young adults at the scenes of emergencies with teddy bears to cheer them up. The results are as fabulous as they are heart-warming.
